Responsibility for being a good steward of this precious ecosystem is an absolute mandate. The lighthouse is located within a Sanctuary Preservation Area (SPA). The Authority having Jurisdiction is NOAA. Fortunately new construction will not be a factor and no contact with the ocean floor is planned as part of restoration. Being a good steward means we leave it better than we find it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As part of our committment as a good steward we are creating Strategic Alliances with great environmental advocates such as Mote Marine Laboratories and the College of the Florida Keys Marine diversity program in a concerted effort to preserve as well as improve and monitor this pristine ecosystem.
